Roadrunners Make It Three Straight With Win Over Brewton-Parker

DALTON, Ga. - The Roadrunners made it three wins-in-a-row and with a dominating 6-1 victory over visiting Brewton-Parker (Ga.) in SSAC soccer action at Lakeshore Park Soccer Complex on Saturday afternoon.

THE FIRST HALF
Each team got on the attack early. It would be the Roadrunners lining up the first attempt. A quick score opportunity from Sebastian Guzman would be saved by Andrew Rico in the 8', followed by shot that went wide from Filipe Thome of Brewton-Parker in the 11'.

DS looked to take control in the 23' with a sequence of shots and corner kicks, but could not put one on target. Guzman would get his redemption for two earlier misses in the 28' when he took a ball from Kevin Villatoro and fired it past Rico for a 1-0 Roadrunner lead.

The Roadrunners would keep the attack going, but a saved shot would rebound long and create a two-on-one opportunity for the Barons. Samuel Figuero would take a pass from Ulises Ortega and just slip it past a diving Samuel Fraire to tie the score at 1-1.

With time ticking down in the first half, Daniel Valenciano would get a pass from Villatoro and finish for a 2-1 Roadrunner lead with just over a minute remaining in the half. The 2-1 advantage is what the Roadrunners would take into halftime.

THE SECOND HALF
Dalton State would waste little time as Kevin Villatoro would add to his two assist day with a goal of his own just 38 seconds into the period to put DS up 3-1. Freshman Steve Taylor would re-enter the match in the 62' and quickly get to work notching a goal of his own in the 68' to give the Roadrunners a 4-1 lead.

Senior Jose Villalobos would snag a goal on Senior Day late in the 84' to put Dalton State up 5-1. Taylor would add a second goal early in the 89' to finish off a six goal day for the Roadrunners as they would defeat Brewton-Parker 6-1.
