#3 Roadrunners Meet Texas Wesleyan In The Quarterfinals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The #1-seed Dalton State basketball team will take on #3-seed Texas Wesleyan today in the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championships at Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, MO.

DALTON STATE
The Roadrunners played a solid, all-around ballgame in a 79-60 win over #4-seed Montana Western on Friday night. Carnilious Simmons recorded his 16th double-double of the season recording 17 points and 19 rebounds. Dalton State had four players score in double-figures led by Reed Dungan with 19. The Roadrunners played strong team defense holding Montana Western to 34.4% from the field and contained the Bulldog guard play. They will have to play the same swarming defense today and take control of the paint if they want to win.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
TEXAS WESLEYAN

The #3-seed Rams advanced to the quarterfinals with a 77-75 win over #2-seed The Master's (Calif.). They are led by the guard trio of Dion Rogers (19.5 ppg), Ryan Harris (15.3 ppg) and Najeal Young (14.3 ppg). Young is a strong rebounder, averaging 8.2 per game, that can play the three or the four. The trio combined for 58 of the teams 77 points in the second round win. If the Roadrunners can control the Ram trio, they can win. They will have to play tough defense and control the glass to do so. Limiting second chance opportunities will be key.
