Steve Card, Director of Dalton Parks and Recreation Department, told those in attendance that the cooperation between local government and local philanthropists is beneficial for all citizens.

Ken White had the honor of cutting the ceremonial ribbon dedicating the new facility. White funded the project.  Both Card and Dalton State athletic director Derek Waugh gave credit to White for his dedication to the community. The business leader helped the athletic department get off the ground by introducing Waugh to influential individuals in the community.

Mayor Dennis Mock, said the city had no choice. "When you have these three (Card, White, and Waugh) behind a project, all you need to do is get out of the way," said Mock.

Card (below) said the facility has been used for a lot more than soccer.
