Roadrunners Soar To 5-0

DALTON, Ga – Dalton State began slow, but became a dominate force in the second half to defeat Hiwassee College 92-69 Wednesday night at Mashburn Arena.
 
THE FIRST HALF
The visiting Tigers maintained a competitive stride throughout the first half until the Roadrunners hit an 8-3 run to take the lead 21-13 with 10:32 left. Reed Dungan helped maintain the lead with 9 points to send Dalton State into the break up at 45-38.
 
THE SECOND HALF
Dalton State came out of halftime to extend the lead to 17 with 16:01 left. The Tigers were never allowed to recover, and the Roadrunners would go on a 16-5 run to increase the lead to a dominate 32 with 6:41 left. Dalton State would finish the night with a 92-69 win.
 
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton marches on to 5-0 on the season and improves to 3-0 at home. The Roadrunners had six players score in double-figures, led by Sayvon Wilson with 15 points. Isaiah Box and Reed Dungan each contributed 14 points, and Dungan went a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Carnilious Simmons stacked the stat line with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 5 steals. J'Quayveon Williams scored 11 points, and Mon'Darius Black was the sixth roadrunner in double digits with 10.
 
Hiwassee College was led by the strong showings of Ben Snider with 13 points and Dess Culpepper with 11 points.
 
Dalton State scored 31 points off 18 Hiwassee turnovers, and outscored the Tigers in the paint 34-20.
 
ON THE HORIZON
Dalton State will face Faulkner University (Ala.) at Mashburn Arena on Saturday, December 3rd at 4:00 p.m.
