Shots Will Fly Tonight At Lakeshore Park


DALTON, Ga. - The Dalton State Men's and Women's soccer teams will hit the pitch tonight, October 13 against visiting Faulkner University at Lakeshore Park.  The women's match will start at 5:00 p.m., followed by the men's match at 7:30 p.m.

Both Roadrunner teams enter the match looking to rebound following tough road losses on October 8 at William Carey. 

The men's team sits at 8-1-1 overall and 3-1 in Southern States Athletic Conference play, tied for 3rd place with Bethel and Mobile.  A win tonight for the Roadrunners would be huge as the top four seeds after the regular season host a first round match in the conference tournament. 

The women's team comes into tonight's match at 5-4-1 and 2-2 in the SSAC, tied  with Bethel for 4th place.  The Lady Roadrunners are led by Rosie Lindo and Adriana Romera.  Romera is 4th in the conference in goals scored with 8, while Lindo leads the conference in assist with 9.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Faulkner Men's soccer team is 5-4 overall and 0-2 in the SSAC.  The Eagles come into the match having lost 3 straight.  They play a fast, attacking style similar to Dalton State, and like to share the wealth, so to speak.  Faulkner's leader is Renan De Souza.  He leads the team in goals (3) and assist (3).  The Eagles have two other dangerous players in Victor De Souza and Constandinos Whitehead.  Each has 3 goals on the year to tie for the team lead. 

The Faulkner Women's soccer team is 3-7-1 overall, 0-2 in the Southern States Athletic Conference and find theirselves on a 4 match losing skid.  The Eagles are dormant on offense, scoring only 8 goals on the year as a team.  Junior Forward Kayla Wilson has scored 7 alone.  Goalie Cate Eden has surrendered 30 goals on the season. 

Shots are sure to be flying at Lakeshore Park tonight!
