Dalton State Men's Tennis Sweeps SSAC Rumble

 
The Dalton State men's tennis team swept two Southern States Athetic Conference opponents at the Lakeshore Park Tennis Center on Friday in the SSAC Roundup .

The Roadrunners started the day right by knocking off Martin Methodist 8-1.

"The guys really stepped up today against a quality Martin Methodist team," said men's tennis coach Zach Rogers. "We continue to start off slow in our doubles play, but we made the necessary adjustments today and came away with two of the three doubles points."

Rogers said he was particularly proud of Adam Hornby, who has been battling a wrist injury all week but still managed to gut out a three set victory.

Doubles:

1. Sebastian Dartnell and Jose Ruda (DS) defeated Ramiro Vargas and Raphael Monzione (MM) in a tough match, 8-6
2. Nikolay Nikiforov and Lucas de Souza (DS) defeated Soloman Persson and Daniel Emirzian (MM), 8-5
3. Christian Arias and Nicolas Galleguilo (MM) defeated Joe Bray and Adam Hornby (DS), 8-3

Singles:

1. Hornby (DS) defeated Ramiro Vargas (MM), 2-6, 6-4, 6-0
2. Nikiforov (DS) defeated Persson (MM), 6-1, 6-4
3. Ruda (DS) defeated Arias (MM), 6-3. 7-5
4. Bray (DS) defeated Emirzian (MM), 3-6, 6-0, 6-0
5. Dartnell (DS) defeated Gallequillo (MM), 6-2, 6-4
6. Souza (DS) defeated Manzione (MM), 6-3, 4-6, 10-8

 
Dalton State's men then shut-out Bethel Friday afternoon, 9-0. "We took control of the match early and didn't let up until the match was clearly under control," said Rogers. "The guys stayed focused and that allowed us to race to a convincing victory in our final regular season conference match. I am extremely proud of how they executed.

2. Nikolay Nikiforov and Lucas De Souza (DS) defeated Hunter Todd and Jimmie Walker (MM), 8-1
3. Joe Bray and Hadyn Fava (DS) defeated Matt Wassman and Austin Danial (BU), 8-1
