Chattanooga, TN – It was one of those not as close as the score type of games. All five Dalton State starters reached double figures in scoring as the Roadrunners knocked off Tennessee Temple 94-71 Tuesday night at McGilvray Gym.

"We played very good sustained defense for about 32 of the 40 minutes and rebounded well all night," said Dalton State Coach Tony Ingle. "Ladaris Green was a beast on the boards and really consistently got us going on the break."

"Jordan Bowling got us off to a great start and Sean Tate was sensational in leading the team to victory," Ingle added. "We played well, but we will have to play better this weekend to compete with the teams we have coming in."

The Roadrunners never trailed as they rolled out to a 26 point first half lead: 43-17 with 7:01 remaining in the half and maintained a 22 point at the break. Dalton gained their biggest lead of the night (58-31) on an Anthony Hilliard three pointer with 15:27 left in the game and cruised to the 23-point win.

Tate played 35 minutes and led Roadrunner scorers with 22 points. The point guard was 7-8 from the foul line. He added seven assists and three rebounds. Green once again had a double-double. He had 21 points, 20 rebounds and four assists in 32 minutes of play.

Bowling had 18 points, four rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes.. Preston Earle had 13 points and three rebounds in 29 minutes. Anthony Hilliard played 30 minutes and tallied 12 points and five assists.

Tennessee Temple's Bryan Jones had a game high 23 points along with five rebounds and three assists. TC Clarke scored 17 points and Jullian Butts 11.  

The Crusader bench outscored the Roadrunner reserves 49-8. Dalton State out rebounded TTU 46-39. The Roadrunners hit 55.6% (17-22) from beyond the arch while Tennessee Temple connected on just eight of 26 for 30.8%. Dalton hit 77.3% from the foul line (17-22), but TTU made 81.3% (13-16).

Tennessee Temple (4-7) is a member of the National Christian Athletic Association.

The No. 13 Roadrunners (9-1 overall, 2-1 SSAC) host the Roadrunner Booster Club Holiday Classic this weekend at Mashburn Arena at the Northwest Georgia Trade and Convention Center.

Concordia of Selma (Al) will play the early games. The member of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association will play the University of the Cumberlands (10-4) from Williamsburg, KY Friday at 6:00 p.m. and Cumberland University of Lebonan, TN at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Dalton State will play Cumberland (TN) at 8:00 p.m. Friday. They are 5-5 going into a Wednesday night contest at Martin Methodist. The Roadrunners will face Cumberlands (KY) at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

The two Cumberlands are members of the NAIA Mid-East Conference. 

Dalton Season ticket holders will be able to get into all games with your season ticket. The first game each day will be general admission seating with tickets available at the arena box office. When the Roadrunners play, the regular season reserved tickets will be recognized. Anyone with general admission tickets from the previous games will be required to move out of reserved seats.
