Pulaski, TN – "These girls are going to give me a heart attack before I am 35," That's what Dalton State Volleyball Coach Bruna Langner said immediately after her Roadrunners survived a tie breaker game to beat Martin Methodist on the road Friday night.

"It was good to win tonight because we weren't 100%," added Langner. "The games we won, we eliminated mistakes. The games they won, they had fewer mistakes." 

Four Lady Roadrunners were in double figures in kills. Kianna Delaney 16 kills, Anna Metzler had 13 kills and 16 digs, Savannah Nelson had 12 kills, Alyne Bianchi had 10 kills and nine digs.

Michala Askew had 40 of the 46 DS assists on the night. She also had eight digs.

The last Dalton State tie of the first set was at four as the hosts won by seven, 25-18. The Lady Redhawks largest lead of the game was at 16-8. The only DS lead of the initial set was at 4-3. There were only a couple of early ties and they were early… 3-3 and 4-4.

The Lady Roadrunners came back to win the second set 25-21. Martin Methodist had jumped out to a 12-8 lead. Dalton State scored nine of the next ten points to go up by four. The game was never even tied again. The largest DS lead of the set was 23-17.

Dalton State played a hard fought game three, but came up short on the scoreboard (25-18), the same as the first set. The score had been tied at 15, but the Lady Redhawks outscored the Lady Roadrunners by seven down the stretch 10-3.
Dalton State broke open a tie at seven in the fourth set to take a 16-9 lead. Martin Methodist scored the next five points to pull to within two (16-14). The visitors took it from there, pulling out to the 25-17 victory.

Dalton was in an early hole (6-2) in the tie breaker, but managed to crawl back into the game and go up for the first time at 13-12. Martin Methodist came back to tie the set at 14 and 15 before the Lady Roadrunners went ahead for the two-point win.   

Dalton State (8-6 overall, 4-4 SSAC) travels to McKenzie, TN to play Bethel University (10-7 overall, 6-2 SSAC) Saturday at 2:00 p.m. EDT (1:00 p.m. Central)
