Kimberly Hays has served as the Faculty Athletic Representative at Dalton State since 2016. She is an Associate Professor of Biology and has served in her faculty role since 2012. She came to Dalton State from a faculty position at Shorter University in Rome, Ga.

Dr. Hays completed a BS in Environmental Biology at Jacksonville (Ala.) State University in 2002 and then completed MS (2005) and PhD (2010) degrees in Zoology at Oklahoma State University. While at Oklahoma State, Dr. Hays began her involvement in intercollegiate athletics serving as a science tutor for Academic Services for student-athletes in the OSU Athletic Department and later as a student facilitator for OSU Football.
In her role at Dalton State College, she is responsible for completing all of the athletic department’s eligibility documents, educating coaches and student-athletes on eligibility requirements and any changes in eligibility rules, and working with students and coaches to insure students are meeting eligibility requirements and making progress in their chosen degree path.
In 2019, Hays became the Eligibility Chair for the Southern States Athletic Conference and was awarded the SSAC Woman of the Year award in 2021 while also representing the conference as their selection for the Wally Schwartz Award that recognizes excellence among Faculty Athletic Representatives on a national level. Also in 2021, Dr. Hays was presented with the USG Regents' Excellence in Teaching and Learning Felton Jenkins Jr. Hall of Fame Faculty Award for her outstanding work in the classroom.
She rotated out as the Eligibility Chair for the SSAC in 2024.
