Erik is in his 9th year serving as Assistant Athletic Director and Sports Information Director. He is a 2015 graduate of Dalton State with a bachelor's degree in Business Management focused in Organizational Behavior.
He began working as an intern in the Athletic Department in 2012 as an Events Coordinator. In 2015, he was instrumental in Dalton State Athletics being named the top conference school for athletic atmosphere as voted on by visiting coaches. Upon graduating in 2015, he was put on staff and quickly elevated to the position of Assistant Athletic Director of Administration with an emphasis on sports communications and events in 2016. In 2021, he added facilities to his portfolio.
Simpson began work on his master's degree in Sports Management at Georgia Southern University in 2023.
Erik was born in Chattanooga, Tenn. and is a lifelong resident of Northwest Georgia. He has three children: Brantlee (15), Channing (11), and Maverick (5).
