Rury Alvarez Born May 30, 1990 in Atlanta, GA. Son of Mirna and Juan Alvarez, brothers Erick, Walter, Martina, Kevin, and Anny.
He played traveling soccer for many clubs in the Atlanta Area. Played For Stone Mountain youth soccer association, Georgia Futbol Club, Tornadoes FC, West Gwinnett soccer association, Atlanta Silverbacks super Y-League, and Atlanta Fire. At Atlanta Fire United he participated in National League Red Bull, played R3PL, and played in the USSF Academy. After youth soccer Rury attended Georgia Perimeter College, he played under Marc Zagara and Allan Davie in the division 1 NJCAA.
As a freshman he attended the national tournament where they lost in penalty kicks to Tyler College in Texas. He made the National tournament All-Tournament Team. After his couple of years at GPC he tried playing overseas but it did not work out.
He signed with Atlanta Silverbacks for a short year before attending Dalton State Where he continued his education. Rury started every game, one of the top in assists and scoring. He received player of the week, All-Conference and All-Tournament Team. He played for Knoxville Force, a semi-pro team the participated in the NPSL League. Played for the force for two years.
Pursuing a degree in interdisciplinary studies. At first he started in youth coaching and he fell in love with it. Growing up he had amazing coaches that influenced his game in many ways. It made him want to coach more in order to pass on lessons he learned as a minor. He says it is a blessing to be able to coach and help a former team he played with.
Some of his other hobbies include; watching soccer, playing disc golf, and spending time with his family. He is engaged to former Dalton State women's soccer athlete Jordan Bernard.
