Tony Ingle was named the first head men's basketball coach for Dalton State's four year basketball program during a standing room only press conference in August of 2012.

Coach Ingle is a Dalton native who starred for coach Melvyn Ottinger at Dalton Junior College. The Roadrunners won the state and regional junior college championships in both his freshman and sophomore year. Coach Ingle then finished his playing career at Huntingdon College in Montgomery, AL.

After earning his degree in physical education, he returned to Georgia where he coached at the high school level before entering the college ranks. He was the architect of a winning program at Gordon College, going 61-32 over three seasons. In his final season, Ingle led the Hilltoppers to the Region XVII Championship game.

He joined the staff of Roger Reid at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah in 1989 and served as an assistant for seven seasons. BYU won 2 WAC Tournament championships, 1 WAC Regular Season championship and went to the NCAA Tournament during five of those seasons.

After leaving BYU, coach Ingle worked as a scout for the NBA's Utah Jazz and as a sports color commentator for the Mountain West Conference.

In 2000, Coach Ingle took over a struggling Kennesaw State basketball program and quickly turned it into a NCAA Division II national power. In 2002-03, the Owls set a school record with 25 wins. The next year, they won the Division II National Championship.

In 2005-06, KSU transitioned into NCAA Division I and entered the Atlantic Sun Conference where they were ranked in the Mid-Major top 25 in their first season. Their signature Division I win was against Georgia Tech in the 2010-11 season.

Ingle is the only coach in the history of Georgia basketball to win a national championship at the NCAA level, which he did at Kennesaw State in 2004. Coach Ingle has also been named the Georgia Coach of the Year at the high school, junior college and collegiate level. He is the only man to ever accomplish this feat.

Coach Ingle is not only a record setting coach, but he is also a renowned public speaker, author and his book "I Don't Mind Hitting Bottom, I Just Hate Dragging" is currently being developed into a feature length movie.

Ingle and his wife (Jeanne) have four sons, one daughter and five grandchildren.
