Joseph Brooks was hired as assistant coach of Roadrunner basketball in September of 2023. Originally from Tuscaloosa, Ala., he graduated from Huntingdon College in Fall 2016 and is currently pursuing his master's degree from Concordia-Irvine.
PATH TO DALTON STATE
After graduating from Huntingdon College, Brooks joined the staff at Snead State Community College in Boaz, Ala. where he assisted Head Coach Jeremiah Patterson from 17-22. At SSCC, the Parsons won the 2018 Alabama Community College Conference championship and claimed runner-up in 2020.
He headed to the state of Georgia and Georgia Highlands College for the 22-23 season, assisting JJ Merritt. While there, the Chargers were 2023 Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association regular season champions and conference tournament runner-up.
At both stops he recruited and helped develop multiple all-region and all-conference players.
TIME WITH THE ROADRUNNERS
Brooks rounded out Coach Alex Ireland's staff in September 2023. During his first season, the Birds finished 6th in the SSAC with a 15-13 overall record and an 11-9 mark in conference play.
