(RV) Roadrunners Earn 3-3 Draw With New College of Florida

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. –  (RV) Dalton State men's soccer built a two-goal advantage before rallying from behind to earn a 3-3 draw against New College of Florida on Monday at the Grizzly Soccer Complex in Lawrenceville.

Bruno Conto, David Saldana and Jamal Gizir scored for Dalton State. Gizir delivered the equalizer in the 70th minute after New College of Florida scored three times during an 11-minute stretch in the second half.

FIRST HALF
Dalton State controlled the opening 45 minutes, outshooting New College of Florida 8-0 and generating three corner kicks. The Roadrunners created their first opportunity just 90 seconds into the match when Conto forced a save from goalkeeper Emmanuel Beltran.

That early pressure produced the opening goal at the 23:46 mark. Conto found the net for his second goal of the season, giving Dalton State a 1-0 advantage. The Roadrunners continued to test Beltran, who made first-half saves against Jake Coltart, Gizir and Fabio Barbosa to keep the margin at one entering halftime.

SECOND HALF
Dalton State doubled its lead just over six minutes after the restart. Saldana scored his third goal of the season at 51:01, with Jonathan Mindegaard and Jack Kuspert providing the assists.

New College of Florida quickly changed the complexion of the match. Ducamel Jeannestin scored in the 55th minute before Cameron Johnson struck at 59:04 to level the score. Johnson scored again at 65:39, completing the comeback and putting New College of Florida ahead 3-2.

The Roadrunners responded by generating four corner kicks in a span of just over six minutes. After Georg Wissler had a header saved, Nicolas Cuna delivered another corner and Gizir converted at 69:14 for his first goal of the season, tying the match at 3-3.

Dalton State pushed for a winner down the stretch. Victor Valencia had an attempt stopped in the 82nd minute, while Sergio Salas struck the crossbar at 88:12. Valencia forced another save moments later, and Barbosa had the final attempt of the afternoon blocked in the closing seconds as the teams finished level.
