(RV) Roadrunners Battle #5 MidAmerica Nazarene To Scoreless Draw

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – (RV) Dalton State stood toe-to-toe with No. 5 MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) on Saturday, battling the Pioneers to a 0-0 draw in a non-conferece clash at Grizzly Soccer Complex. The Roadrunners placed four of their six shots on frame and held MidAmerica Nazarene to just one shot on goal over the full 90 minutes.

FIRST HALF
Both teams worked to establish possession during a measured opening stretch. MidAmerica Nazarene recorded the match's first shot in the 22nd minute, but Pedro Vian sent the attempt wide of the right post.

The Pioneers produced the first shot on goal in the 34th minute when Lenin Flores tested Bernardo Manzano. The Dalton State goalkeeper was positioned well and made the save to keep the match scoreless. MidAmerica Nazarene threatened again shortly afterward, but a shot from Ferdi Hagen was blocked.

Dalton State generated its best attacking spell late in the period. Bruno Conto put a shot on target in the 40th minute, forcing a save from Lennart Fischer. Hudson Ferreira followed with another attempt on goal in the 45th minute, but Fischer denied the opportunity and sent the teams into halftime tied at 0-0.

SECOND HALF
The Roadrunners increased the pressure after the break and nearly found the opening goal in the 56th minute. Following a Dalton State corner kick, Jake Coltart struck an attempt off the post, leaving the match level.

MidAmerica Nazarene answered with a spell of pressure near the hour mark, earning two corner kicks and producing attempts from Elyes Ellouz and Paul Vingtrois. Ellouz sent his effort wide left, while Vingtrois fired over the goal.

Dalton State created two more quality opportunities during the final 16 minutes. Kai Reading placed shots on goal in the 75th and 79th minutes, but Fischer stopped both attempts to preserve the scoreless contest. The Pioneers earned consecutive corner kicks in the closing minutes and registered one final shot through Ellouz, whose effort went wide right in the 88th minute. The Roadrunner defense held firm through the final whistle to secure the draw.
