Dalton State Dominates Opportunities In Scoreless Draw With Milligan (Tenn.)


DALTON, Ga. – Dalton State controlled possession and generated the majority of the scoring opportunities but settled for a 0-0 draw against Milligan (Tenn.) on Friday at Dalton Stadium. Dalton State outshot the visitors 22-5, placed nine attempts on goal, and earned seven corner kicks.
 
FIRST HALF
Dalton State applied pressure almost immediately. Alice Legnedahl recorded the first attempt just 52 seconds into the match, and Chaney Paulino forced Milligan goalkeeper Christain Davis into a save in the third minute. Amy Wearing and Brooke Fairchild followed with shots on goal as Dalton State established control of the attacking tempo.
 
Abigail Aman tested Davis in the 19th minute, while Fairchild registered another shot on target in the 23rd. Dalton State finished the half with a 10-1 advantage in shots and a 3-1 edge in corner kicks, but Davis made six saves to keep the match scoreless. Legnedahl produced Dalton State's final opportunity of the period with a shot on goal at the 45-minute mark.
 
SECOND HALF
Dalton State resumed its attack after halftime and came within inches of breaking the deadlock in the 51st minute when Wearing struck the crossbar. Lexi Lyon then forced another save from Davis at 53:06, and Wearing added shots on goal in the 59th and 77th minutes.
 
The home side continued creating chances through the closing minutes. Mayah Camacho, Audrey Hunt, and Legnedahl each had attempts blocked, while Ragneidur Ottosdottir, Fairchild, and Hunt sent efforts wide. Dalton State took 12 shots and earned four corners in the second half.
 
Milligan produced four second-half shots, but none were on target. Dalton State goalkeeper Maggie Rickerd completed the full 90 minutes without facing a shot on goal, helping preserve the shutout and the 0-0 result.
