Lady Roadrunners Shut Out Faulkner (Ala.), 2-0

DALTON, Ga. – Dalton State women's soccer scored once in each half and turned away every Faulkner opportunity to earn a 2-0 victory Friday at Dalton Stadium. Alice Legnedahl delivered the early breakthrough before Audrey Hunt provided the second-half insurance goal, helping the Roadrunners improve to 2-2-2 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play.

FIRST HALF

Dalton State continued to test Faulkner goalkeeper Taylor Waters throughout the half. Lexi Lyon, Brooke Fairchild, Amy Wearing, and Legnedahl each placed shots on goal

At the other end, Maggie Rickerd stopped all four Faulkner shots on target during the opening 45 minutes. Her saves included efforts from Cassie Jackson, Gabriela Garzon Valero, Sydney Steele, and Brooke Parker, allowing Dalton State to take its 1-0 lead into halftime.

SECOND HALF
Faulkner applied pressure immediately after the break, producing four shots in the first six minutes of the second half. Rickerd saved one attempt, while the Dalton State defense blocked another and forced two shots wide to preserve the lead.

The Roadrunners then took control offensively. Audrey Hunt entered the match in the 59th minute and doubled the advantage at 63:56. After Amy Wearing struck the crossbar, Hunt found the net for a goal that put Dalton State ahead 2-0.

Dalton State continued creating opportunities after the second goal. The Roadrunners finished the second half with 17 shots and forced Waters to make six additional saves.
