Women's Golf-Tylah James

Play Suspended For The Day At NAIA Women’s Golf National Championship

5/19/2026 6:44:00 PM

YPSILANTI, Mich. — #1 Dalton State women's golf got on the course early and almost finished the day, but Mother Nature had other ideas as pop-up storms with lightening caused the suspension of the first round of the NAIA Women's Golf Championship at Eagle Crest Golf Course in Ypsilanti, Mich. on Tuesday.

Tylah James, Tara Phipps, and Reese Day were able to complete their first rounds, while Sara Burger and Jia Kataria were left on No. 18 when the horn sounded to bring the players off the course.

James, and Day each posted 76 (+6), with Phipps carding 78 (+8). Burger is on the 18th green with Kataria on the 18th fairway to finish out their rounds.

Play will resume tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m. with the conclusion of the first round. Round 2 will now be played on Thursday, May 21 with the cut down to 15 teams and 6 individuals taking place following.

The tournament will now be played as a 54-hole event instead of the original 72, with the final round taking place on Friday, May 22.
