Dalton State Battles No. 4 Life (Ga.) to Scoreless Draw


MARIETTA, Ga. – Dalton State earned a hard-fought result on the road Saturday, battling #4 Life (Ga.) to a 0-0 draw at Lupo Field in Marietta. The Roadrunners withstood early pressure before creating several dangerous opportunities of their own, forcing Life goalkeeper Pawel Wolny to make four saves.
 
FIRST HALF
Life produced the match's first scoring opportunity in the second minute, but Dalton State goalkeeper Bernardo Manzano stopped Enrico Burigotto's attempt. The hosts continued to apply pressure, coming close to breaking the deadlock when Augusto Del Rio struck the crossbar in the 22nd minute.
 
Dalton State settled into the match and generated three shots on goal over the final eight minutes of the half. Jack Kuspert forced consecutive saves from Wolny in the 38th and 39th minutes before Joao Victor tested the Life goalkeeper again in the 45th minute. Wolny stopped all three attempts to send the match into halftime scoreless.
 
SECOND HALF
Dalton State created additional pressure after the break, earning three corner kicks between the 59th and 66th minutes. Jason Guerrero-Blanco narrowly missed with a header in the 67th minute, while Kai Reading sent an attempt wide four minutes later.
 
The Roadrunners' best opportunity of the second half came in the 84th minute when Bruno Conto placed a shot on goal, but Wolny made his fourth save of the match. Life attempted to find a late winner, but Dalton State's defense blocked two Burigotto shots in the 80th minute before Enrico Lazzari headed the hosts' final attempt wide with four seconds remaining. The Roadrunners held firm through the final whistle to secure the scoreless draw.
