Kelley’s 35 Leads Dalton State Past Blue Mountain Christian, 103–68


DALTON, Ga. – Dalton State overwhelmed Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) with a wire-to-wire win, riding a torrid offensive night and a smothering first-half defense to a 103–68 victory on Saturday afternoon.
 
Senior guard Tyshan Kelley poured in 35 points on 13–19 FG and 7–12 from three, adding 6 steals as the Roadrunners crossed the century mark. Dalton State shot 55.4% from the field and 40.6% from deep while assisting on 29 of 41 made baskets.

FIRST HALF
Dalton State seized control immediately, sprinting to a 45–19 halftime lead behind 50.0% shooting, including 7–18 (38.9%) from three.

The defense throttled Blue Mountain Christian to 23.3% shooting and just 19 points before the break, forcing 9 first-half turnovers and converting in transition and early offense.

Kelley set the tone with 14 first-half points, while the hosts stacked up 17 first-half assists and a 23–11 rebounding edge.
 
SECOND HALF
Any hint of a comeback was short-lived as Dalton State shot a blistering 60.5% after intermission and posted 58 second-half points.

Varun Danak delivered 10 second-half points (4–4 FG), and Qualen Pettus added 8 after the break as the margin swelled to a 41-point largest lead with 10:38 left.

Blue Mountain Christian found its rhythm late (52.8% in the half), but the gap was insurmountable as Dalton State closed out the 103–68 result with balance and pace.
