#4-Ranked Dalton State Battles During Opening Rounds at Coastal Georgia Invitational

WAVERLY, Ga. – #4 Dalton State opened their 2025–26 season at the Coastal Georgia Men's Fall Invitational at Sanctuary Cove in Waverly, Georgia, facing a deep and competitive NAIA field.
 
After two rounds of play, Dalton State sits in fourth place with a team total of 583 (289-294), trailing Blue Mountain (569). The Roadrunners were led by Tyler Latimer, who sits in the top-10 individually at 3-under, and Ben McFadden and Scott Frisby in 20th overall at 2-over.
 
OPPONENT OVERVIEW
The tournament field featured several notable programs:
  • Reinhardt (Ga.) set the pace early, posting a 281 in Round 1 and following it up with a 276 in Round 2, for a tournament-leading total of 557. Their consistent scoring and depth across the lineup made them the team to beat heading into the final round.
  • Coastal Georgia, the host school, responded with a solid 291 in Round 1, then surged in Round 2 with a 273, bringing their total to 564. Their second-round performance was the lowest team score of the day, showcasing their ability to capitalize on home-course familiarity.
  • William Carey (Miss.) led the secondary leaderboard with a total score of 587, showing consistency across both rounds.
  • Point (Ga.) followed closely at 590, while Covenant College posted 593.
  • St. Thomas (Fla.) and Tennessee Wesleyan were eighth and ninth with scores of 596 and 597, respectively.
  • Other competitors included Florida College (604), ABAC (Ga.) (605), Columbia International (S.C.) (606), and Georgia Military (610).
  • Montreat (N.C.) and Brewton-Parker (Ga.) completed the field with scores of 614 and 657.

ROUND 1
Dalton State opened the Coastal Georgia Men's Fall Invitational with a team score of 289 (+1) at Sanctuary Cove. The Roadrunners were led by Tyler Latimer, who carded a strong 2-under-par 70, followed closely by Ben McFadden with a 1-under 71. Joe Getley and John Brady Knight added 74's, respectively, while Scott Frisby rounded out with 75. Dylan John shot even-par 72 as the individual.
 
ROUND 2
Dalton State posted a team score of 294 in the second round at Sanctuary Cove, bringing their two-round total to 583 and securing fourth place behind Reinhardt (Ga.), Coastal Georgia, and Blue Mountain (Miss.). The Roadrunners faced tougher conditions in Round 2, with scores slightly higher scores across the lineup compared to the opening round.
 
Latimer and Frisby led the team with a 1-under 71's, while Ben McFadden added a 75. Getley rounded out team scoring with a 77, with Knight posting 80. Dylan John, competing individually, posted a 76.
