Hernandez’s Late Equalizer Secures 2–2 Draw For Dalton State Against Florida College


DALTON, Ga. - Top-ranked Dalton State battled to a 2–2 draw against Florida College on Thursday at Dalton Stadium in Dalton, Ga. The #1 Roadrunners led early and equalized late thanks to goals from Sohail Ebrahimi and Jonathan Hernandez, while outshooting the Falcons 25–8 in a high-energy contest.
 
FIRST HALF
Dalton State came out strong, controlling possession and creating multiple scoring opportunities. Their efforts paid off in the 24th minute, when Sohail Ebrahimi found the back of the net off an assist from Jesus Huitanda, giving the Roadrunners a 1–0 lead.
 
Dalton State dominated offensively with 10 shots in the first half, compared to Florida College's 5, but Filip Borka, Florida College's goalkeeper, was outstanding, recording 8 saves before halftime to keep his team in the game.
 
SECOND HALF
Florida College responded with intensity in the second half. In the 68th minute, Leo Hackett converted a penalty kick, leveling the score at 1–1. Just four minutes later, Hackett struck again, this time assisted by Solon Pinto, to give Florida College a 2–1 lead.
 
Dalton State refused to back down. In the 83rd minute, Jonathan Hernandez scored an unassisted goal to tie the match at 2–2, which would hold as the final score.
 
The second half saw Dalton State fire off 15 shots, while Florida College managed 3. Despite the pressure, Borka continued his stellar performance, finishing the match with 11 saves.
