Dalton State Wraps Up The Invite at Innisbrook with Strong Final Round Push

PALM HARBOR, Fla. – #4 Dalton State closed out The Invite at Innisbrook with a determined final round effort, finishing 14th in a highly competitive 20-team field hosted at the renowned Innisbrook Copperhead Course on Monday and Tuesday.
 
The Roadrunners posted a three-round total of +58, 910, with round scores of +27, +13, and +18, showing marked improvement after a challenging opening round. Their second-round surge of +13, 297 was one of the better team scores of the day, helping them climb the leaderboard and stay competitive in a deep field.
 
The tournament featured some of the top NAIA and junior college programs in the country. #3 Keiser (Fla.) claimed the team title with an impressive +4, 856 total, highlighted by a final-round -1, 287. Ave Maria (+28, 880) and #20 Reinhardt (+30, 882) were second and third. Rounding out the top five were Central Alabama CC (+31, 883) and a tie between #7 OUAZ (Ariz.) and #6 Wayland Baptist (Texas) at +36, 888.
 
ROUND 1
The opening round at Innisbrook's Copperhead Course proved to be a test of patience and perseverance for the Roadrunners. Dalton State posted a team score of +27, 311, placing them in the lower half of the leaderboard after Round 1.
 
Tyler Latimer led the team with a steady round of +5, 76, navigating the challenging layout with resilience. Ben McFadden followed with a +6, 77, while John Brady Knight and Barrett Loftis each carded +8, 79. Scott Frisby rounded out the team scoring with a +9, 80.
 
Two Dalton State individuals also competed: Jackson Newman posted a solid +4, 75, the best individual score among all Dalton State players in Round 1, while Joe Getley finished at +7, 78.
 
ROUND 2
Dalton State bounced back in Round 2 with a team score of +13, 297, their best round of the tournament and a major improvement from the opening round. The Birds showed poise and precision on the Copperhead Course, climbing the leaderboard with a balanced team effort.
 
Scott Frisby led the charge with a composed +1, 72, bouncing back from a tough first round. Ben McFadden added a solid +3, 74, while John Brady Knight and Tyler Latimer contributed +4 and +5, respectively. Despite a rough day for Barrett Loftis (+11), the team's overall performance was a testament to their depth and resilience.
 
Among the individuals, Joe Getley carded a +8, and Jackson Newman struggled to a +12, but both continued to gain valuable experience in a strong field.
 
ROUND 3
Dalton State closed the tournament with a solid +18, 302 in Round 3, anchored by a standout even-par (E) round from Ben McFadden, who delivered the team's best individual performance of the week.
 
Scott Frisby added a +4, 75 while Barrett Loftis and Tyler Latimer contributed +6 and +8, respectively. John Brady Knight rounded out the team scoring with a +11.
 
Among the individuals, Joe Getley posted a respectable +4, 75, while Jackson Newman finished with a +11.

#4-ranked Dalton State heads to Dickson, Tenn. and Greystone Golf Club for the Music City Invitational on October 6-7.
