No. 3 Dalton State Finishes Fifth at Coastal Georgia Men’s Fall Invitational

ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. – No. 3 Dalton State finished fifth at the Coastal Georgia Men's Fall Invitational on Monday and Tuesday at Sea Palms Golf Resort in St. Simons Island.
 
The Roadrunners posted rounds of 289, 285, and 294 to complete the 54-hole tournament at 16-over-par 868. Dalton State finished four strokes ahead of sixth-place New College of Florida and six strokes ahead of seventh-place ABAC (Ga.) in the 15-team field.
 
Scott Frisby led Dalton State throughout the tournament, tying for fifth individually at 5-under-par 208. Frisby recorded rounds of 69, 69, and 70, producing the Roadrunners' lowest score in all three rounds.
 
Reinhardt (Ga.) won the team championship at 27-under, finishing five strokes ahead of runner-up Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) at 22-under. Southeastern (Fla.) and tournament host Coastal Georgia tied for third at 3-under, followed by Dalton State in fifth.

ROUND 1 RECAP
Dalton State opened the tournament with a 5-over-par 289, placing the Roadrunners fifth after the first 18 holes.
 
Frisby set the pace with a 2-under 69. After playing the opening nine in even-par 35, Frisby made three consecutive birdies on Nos. 10, 11, and 12. Frisby added another birdie at No. 14 and completed the back nine in 2-under 34.
 
John Brady Knight supplied an even-par 71. Knight made the turn in 1-under 34 and balanced four birdies with four bogeys during the round.
 
Jake Eason added a 2-over 73, while Joao Carvalho's 5-over 76 completed Dalton State's four counting scores. Joe Getley opened with a 6-over 77.
 
Crowley led Dalton State's individual entries with a 2-over 73. Loftis posted a 6-over 77, and John finished the opening round with a 15-over 86.
 
ROUND 2 RECAP
The Roadrunners improved by four strokes in the second round, combining for a 1-over-par 285. The performance brought Dalton State's 36-hole total to 6-over 574 and kept the Roadrunners in fifth place.
 
Frisby again led the lineup with a 2-under 69. Frisby recorded six birdies, including four over a five-hole stretch from Nos. 3 through 7, to match his opening-round score and move to 4-under for the tournament.
 
Eason delivered Dalton State's second under-par score of the round with a 1-under 70. Eason recorded four birdies, including three during a four-hole stretch from Nos. 7 through 10.
 
Knight contributed a 1-over 72, and Carvalho closed out the counting total with a 3-over 74. Getley recorded an 11-over 82.
 
In individual competition, Crowley shot a 4-over 75. Loftis posted an 11-over 82, while John finished the round with a 13-over 84.
 
Blue Mountain posted the lowest team score of the second round at 14-under. Reinhardt and Coastal Georgia each shot 11-under, while Dalton State and New College of Florida both finished the round at 1-over.

ROUND 3 RECAP
Dalton State closed the tournament with a 10-over-par 294 to secure fifth place.
 
Frisby remained steady at the top of the lineup, recording a 1-under 70 to complete the event at 5-under 208 and earn a tie for fifth. Frisby played a bogey-free back nine and made an eagle on the par-5 17th hole, finishing the inward nine in even-par 35.
 
Eason and Getley each shot 2-over 73. Getley made five birdies during the final round, while Eason recorded three birdies.
 
Knight's 7-over 78 provided Dalton State's fourth counting score. Carvalho concluded the tournament with a 9-over 80.
 
Crowley produced the best final round among Dalton State's individual entries, firing an even-par 71. Crowley made the turn at 2-over before carding two birdies and an eagle on the back nine for a 2-under 34. Crowley finished 36th overall at 6-over 219.
 
Loftis closed with a 4-over 75 to finish 80th at 21-over 234. John shot a 10-over 81 and completed the tournament tied for 90th at 38-over 251.
 
Behind Frisby, Eason tied for 24th at 3-over 216, Knight tied for 40th at 8-over 221, Carvalho tied for 71st at 17-over 230, and Getley tied for 75th at 19-over 232.
