MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. — Dalton State Women's Soccer earned a hard-fought 1–1 draw on the road against Milligan (Tenn.), showcasing grit, defensive resilience, and timely execution in a tightly contested non-conference matchup at Anglin Field.
FIRST HALF RECAP
The opening 45 minutes were a defensive showcase, with both teams trading chances but unable to break through. Dalton State's goalkeeper
Maggie Rickerd stood tall, recording five saves in the first half to keep the Buffs off the board. Milligan threatened with shots off the post and crossbar, including a near-miss from Halle Steele in the 20th minute. Despite several fouls and a yellow card issued to
Aoife Saunders, the Lady Roadrunners held firm and entered halftime in a scoreless deadlock.
SECOND HALF RECAP
Dalton State struck first just three minutes into the second half. Sophomore forward
Tania Dominguez found the back of the net in the 49th minute, finishing a well-placed assist from
Lexi Lyon to give the Lady Birds a 1–0 lead. The goal energized Dalton State, who continued pressing with multiple corner kicks and shots on target. However, Milligan responded in the 80th minute when Halle Steele converted a pass from Natalie Roper to equalize. Despite late substitutions and a flurry of chances from both sides, the match ended in a 1–1 draw.
