Lady Roadrunners Earn 61 Points, Finish 5th At SSAC Championship

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The Dalton State Roadrunners closed out the 2025 SSAC Women's Track & Field Championship with a strong showing, earning 61 total points across multiple events.
 
Distance Dominance
Leading the charge for Dalton State was Kylie Gray, who delivered standout performances in the long-distance events. Gray secured second place in the 5000M with a time of 18:58.26, while also finishing third in the 10,000M (41:05.70) and sixth in the 1500M (5:16.15). Marlene Paez also put in a solid effort, placing fifth in the 5000M (19:54.29) and sixth in the 10,000M (43:35.84). Julie Ruiz rounded out the 5000M results, finishing 12th in 22:32.70
 
Middle-Distance Strength
The Roadrunners had a trio of competitors in the 800M, with Madison Todd finishing 15th (2:50.41), Haley Hartman placing 18th (2:57.70), and Julie Ruiz coming in 19th (3:01.01). In the 3000M Steeplechase, Lexi Lyon delivered a podium-worthy effort with third place (12:33.17), followed closely by Hartman in fourth (12:40.60).
 
Sprints & Relays
Sprinter Elizabeth McGhee represented Dalton State in both the 100M (15th, 13.63) and 200M (17th, 28.94), while Alexys Hines placed eighth in the 100M Hurdles (20.37) and ninth in the 400M Hurdles (1:19.20). The 4x100M relay team of McGhee, Hartman, Lyon, and Hines finished fourth in 53.36, while the 4x800M squad featuring Todd, Hartman, Lyon, and Gray also claimed fourth place in 10:23.32.
 
Field Event Contributions
In the field events, Emily Lane impressed with a runner-up finish in the discus (35.30M) and a fifth-place finish in the javelin (26.51M). Kylee Johnson secured 10th in the shot put (9.36M) and seventh in the discus (27.12M). Hines added an eighth-place mark in the triple jump (9.75M).
 
Dalton State's collective efforts across distances, relays, and field events propelled the team to a 61-point finish, capping off a solid performance in Hattiesburg.
