#11-Ranked Dalton State Edged In Overtime By Middle Georgia State


COCHRAN, Ga. – In an intensely contested Southern States Athletic Conference basketball encounter, #11 Dalton State fell just short in overtime as Middle Georgia State took down the Roadrunners 87-85 in a thriller at Morris Gym in Cochran on Saturday afternoon.

The game was intense from the start, with Dalton State holding a slight 44-42 halftime lead. This slim margin set the stage for a nail-biting second half which eventually led to overtime. During overtime, the game saw several lead changes and was tied at 85 points, until the Knights edged out with a two-point lead to clinch the victory.
 
Matt Compas led the scoring for the Roadrunners with a robust 24 points and contributed eight rebounds. Additional support came from Kawasiki Ricks and Kevin Henry, who each added 13 points. The team's overall effort was highlighted by impressive defensive plays, including steals and blocks, notably from Omarion Smith, who not only scored six points but also secured four rebounds, recorded one steal, and an impressive four blocks.

#11 Dalton State (Ga.) falls to (20-4 overall, 13-2 SSAC) with the loss, while Middle Georgia State improves to (14-5 overall, 10-3 SSAC) with the win.

UP NEXT
#11-ranked Dalton State will be back on the road again on Tuesday, February 11, when they travel to Huntsville, Ala., for a non-conference clash with Oakwood (Ala.). Tip-Off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. (CT).
