#20 Dalton State Holds Off Lindsey Wilson in 84–79 Thriller at Bandy Gym

DALTON, Ga. – #20 Dalton State earned a hard-fought 84–79 victory over Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) on Saturday afternoon at Bandy Gym. The Roadrunners improved to 7–3 overall and 2–2 in conference play, while the Blue Raiders fell to 7–2. In a game featuring 10 lead changes and five ties, Dalton State's balanced attack and clutch free-throw shooting down the stretch proved decisive.

RECAP
FIRST HALF
Dalton State jumped out early behind Varun Danak's hot start in the paint and Qualen Pettus' perimeter shooting. The Roadrunners led by as many as nine (18–9) midway through the half, but Lindsey Wilson responded with Kenyata Carbon's scoring burst to close the gap. Carbon poured in 17 first-half points, including two triples, as the Blue Raiders clawed back to within one at the break. Dalton State held a slim 43–42 advantage at halftime, shooting 44.8% from the field and 44.4% from three, while Lindsey Wilson hit 50% overall.

SECOND HALF
The second half was a back-and-forth battle. Dalton State surged ahead with a 54.2% shooting clip after the break, fueled by Pettus' three second-half triples and timely buckets from Jamori McDougald and Santonio McDaniel. Lindsey Wilson continued to lean on Carbon, who finished with a game-high 28 points, and Mihail Gavazov's perimeter shooting kept the visitors within striking distance. In the final minute, Dalton State converted six free throws—four by Ja'Ron Briggs and two by Danak—to seal the win after McDougald's clutch steal and layup gave the Roadrunners an 80–78 edge with 36 seconds left.
