#25 Dalton State Falls 2-0 to Warner Pacific in NAIA Opening Round

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — Dalton State's postseason run came to an end in West Palm Beach, Florida, as the No. 25-ranked Roadrunners were shut out 2-0 by Warner Pacific (OR) in the first round of the NAIA Men's Soccer Championship. Despite a strong second-half push, Dalton State couldn't overcome an early deficit and a late penalty that sealed the Knights' victory.

FIRST HALF
The opening 45 minutes were tightly contested, with both teams trading fouls and chances. Warner Pacific struck first in the 30th minute when Chris Marcial-Cruz found the back of the net unassisted, giving the Knights a 1-0 lead. Dalton State managed four shots in the half, including a close effort from Sohail Ebrahimi in the 14th minute, but Warner Pacific goalkeeper Owen Purvis kept the Roadrunners off the board. The Knights entered halftime ahead 1-0.

SECOND HALF
Dalton State came out aggressive after the break, firing 11 shots in the second half and earning multiple corners. However, Warner Pacific extended its lead in the 70th minute when Bodo Calderon converted a penalty kick for his 15th goal of the season. Despite late chances from Jonathan Hernandez and Matheus Rezende, Purvis stood tall in goal, finishing with four saves to preserve the clean sheet. Dalton State's frustrations boiled over with a team yellow card following the penalty, as Warner Pacific controlled the final minutes to secure the win.
