Dalton State Rolls Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) With 8-0 Road Victory


BLUE MOUNTAIN, Miss. - Dalton State delivered a commanding performance on Saturday, overwhelming Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) 8-0 in SSAC play in Blue Mountain, Miss. The Lady Roadrunners fired 55 shots and controlled possession from start to finish, improving to 8-3-1 overall and 3-2 in conference play, while the Toppers fell to 1-10-0 (0-6 SSAC).
 
FIRST HALF
Dalton State wasted no time asserting control, peppering the Blue Mountain defense with relentless pressure. After multiple near misses—including two shots off the post—Aoife Saunders broke through in the 18th minute with a strike. Saunders added two more goals in the 21st and 36th minutes to complete a first-half hat trick. Amelia Jesiak capped the half with a goal in the 43rd minute, sending the Lady Birds into the break with a 4-0 lead. Dalton State outshot Blue Mountain 32-1 in the opening period.
 
SECOND HALF
The Lady Roadrunners kept their foot on the gas after halftime. Lexi Lyon scored in the 64th minute for her 16th goal of the season which breaks the single-season record for goals scored in a season, followed by Amy Wearing's goal in the 74th. Jesiak tallied her second of the day in the 80th minute, assisted by Andrea Dominguez, and Lauren Wright closed the scoring in the 83rd minute. Dalton State's depth was on full display as 11 players recorded shots in the second half, finishing with 23 attempts in the period compared to just one for the hosts.
