#3 Lady Roadrunners Dominate at Home, Capture Lady Roadrunner Fall Invite Title

DALTON, Ga. — The No. 3-ranked Dalton State women's golf team showcased their depth and consistency at the Lady Roadrunner Fall Invite, cruising to a commanding victory at Dalton Golf & Country Club on October 20–21. The Roadrunners posted rounds of 305-302-299 for a 54-hole total of 906 (+42), finishing 16 strokes ahead of runner-up #4 Marian (Ind.).

  • 1st – #3 Dalton State: 906 (+42)
  • 2nd – #4 Marian (Ind.): 922 (+58)
  • 3rd – #6 SCAD Savannah (Ga.): 927 (+63)
ROUND 1
Dalton State opened the tournament with a steady first round of 305 (+17). Sara Burger led the way with a 1-over 73, highlighted by a birdie on the par-5 8th and a clean back nine. Jia Kataria and Ella Ahlqvist each carded 77 (+5), providing strong support in the middle of the lineup. Tylah James added a 78 (+6), while Tara Phipps rounded out the scoring with an 81 (+9).
 
HIGHLIGHTS
INDIVIDUALS ROUND 2
The Roadrunners tightened their grip on the leaderboard in Round 2, firing a 302 (+14) to extend their lead. Jia Kataria delivered the low score of the round for Dalton State with a 73 (+1), bouncing back from an early bogey with birdies on holes 7 and 9. Sara Burger stayed steady with a 75 (+3), while Tara Phipps improved to 76 (+4). Tylah James added an 78 (+6), and Ella Ahlqvist posted 84 (+12) to round out the team effort.
 
HIGHLIGHTS
INDIVIDUALS ROUND 3
Dalton State closed the event in style with a tournament-best 299 (+11) in Round 3, sealing the victory. Jia Kataria led the charge with a 72 (E), her best round of the tournament, featuring birdies on holes 4 and 13 and an eagle on 15 that propelled her to the individual medalist title. Tylah James contributed her tournament-best round of 75 (+3) as Sara Burger continued her strong play with a 76 (+4). Ella Ahlqvist bounced back with a 76 (+4) of her own, while Tara Phipps added an 77 (+5) to complete the scoring.

#3-ranked Dalton State ends the Fall season with consecutive victories that will carry momentum into the Spring stretch that begins in February.
