#13 Birds Run Winning Streak To Fifteen With Win Over Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.)


DALTON, Ga. – #13 Dalton State showcased a commanding performance on the offensive and defensive sides of the ball to defeat the Blue Mountain Christian Toppers, 88-72, at the Bandy Gym on Saturday afternoon for their 15th consecutive win.

Dalton State took a solid lead, reflected in the 51-34 halftime score. The Roadrunners' efficiency from the field, shooting at a 58.33% clip, and defensive prowess, holding the Toppers to 37.84%, allowed them to build the first-half lead.
 
DS established their biggest lead in the second period, pulling ahead by 22 points at the 15:14 mark, and never looked back. The Birds again dominated the paint, outscoring the Toppers 52-32 in the lane and outrebounding BMCC 41-34.

#13 Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (17-2 overall, 11-0 SSAC) with the win, while Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) falls to (9-12 overall, 2-8 SSAC) with the loss. Key performers Matt Compas and Kawasiki Ricks each contributed 15 points, while Omarion Smith had a notable night with 12 points and a game-high 17 rebounds. The team's depth was evident as Dalton State had contributions across the board, with notable performances from Qualen Pettus and his double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds.

The #13-ranked Roadrunners will next face Voorhees (S.C.) at the Bandy Gym on Tuesday, January 28, aiming to continue their winning momentum. Tip-Off on Coach O Court is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
