#2 Roadrunners Bounce Back With Win Over Point (Ga.)


DALTON, Ga. – #2-ranked Dalton State avenged a tie with Faulkner (Ala.) two nights earlier with a 3-0 win over Point (Ga.) at Dalton Stadium on Friday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: The Birds attacked quick and were rewarded in the 3' when Kazuma Ishizuka found Jack Brown on a long cross into the box for the 1-0 lead.
  • (2-0 DS) DS: Jip van den Essen stepped into the box in the 12' for a penalty kick and converted to put the Roadrunners up by two goals early.
SECOND HALF
  • (3-0 DS) DS: Antonio Bittencourt put the icing on the cake in the 84' when he banged a header into goal on a gorgeous corner kick delivery from Nicolas Cuna.
THE REST OF THE STORY
#2 Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (8-0-1 overall, 2-0-1 SSAC) on the season with the win, while Point (Ga.) falls to (6-1-2 overall, 1-1-1 SSAC) with the loss. Jack Brown, Jip van den Essen, and Antonio Bittencourt all scored for the Birds, with Kazuma Ishizuka and Nicolas Cuna getting assists. Nicolas Leite was stout in goal stopping the only shot he saw and getting a clean sheet.
 
UP NEXT
#2 DS will be back in action on Saturday, October 5 as they travel to Cochran to face Middle Georgia State. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
