#5 Lady Roadrunners Finish Third At SSAC Championship

GREENVILLE, Ala. – #5 Dalton State didn't have the finish they hoped for as they posted 314 (+26) on the final day of play at the SSAC Championship at RTJ Cambrian Ridge in Greenville, Ala. on Wednesday.
 
#8 William Carey (Miss.) took the lead early in the second round and never faltered, leading to the SSAC Championship and a tournament-best 885 (+21). #15 Loyola (La.) jumped #5 Dalton State (Ga.) for 2nd, finishing at 900 (+36). The Lady Roadrunners posted 916 (+52), with Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) (939, +75) in 4th. Point (Ga.) (974, +110) rounded out the top-5.

ROUND 3
Low score of the day for the Lady Birds went to Mailey Buzzell with a 4-over 76. It allowed her to grab a top-10 with a solo 10th-place finish. Jia Kataria shot 6-over 78 and ended her tournament alone in 20th. Sydney Hermann battled an injury in the last round and salvaged a 5th-place finish after a 7-over round of 79.
 
Sara Burger struggled to find birdies on the final day, ending the championship with a 9-over 81 and an 11th-place finish. Hanna Bullard took home 22nd and carded 10-over 82 for the last round. Ella Cress tied for 27th as the individual with an 87 (+15) over the tricky course.

AWARDS
Conference awards were announced during the week of the tournament. Five of the six Lady Roadrunners made All-SSAC with Sydney Hermann, Mailey Buzzell, and Sara Burger making 1st team and Hanna Bullard and Jia Kataria 2nd team. Burger and Kataria made the All-Freshman team, with Buzzell, Bullard, and Ella Cress on the All-Academic team. Burger garnered the biggest award as SSAC Freshman of the Year.

#5 Dalton State will now set their sights on the NAIA Women's Golf National Championship at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Ill. on May 14-17.
