GREENVILLE, Ala. –#5 Dalton State got off to a solid Round 1 start taking the lead on hole Nos. 3-5 and pulling away on the back 9 to take an 8-shot lead in the SSAC Championship at RTJ Cambrian Ridge in Greenville, Ala., on Monday.
 
#5 Dalton State (Ga.) posted 289 (+1) and leads #8 William Carey (Miss.) at 297 (+9). #15 Loyola (La.) (310, +22) is 3^rd, with (RV) Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) (313, +25) in 4^th. Point (Ga.) (320, +32) rounds out the top-5.

ROUND 1
Sydney Hermann leads the Roadrunners and the overall field after firing a 4-under 68. She is 4 strokes ahead of teammate Sara Burger, who carded an even-par 72. Mailey Buzzell and Hanna Bullard join them in the top 10. Buzzell shot 2-over 74, and Bullard 3-over 75 and sit tied for 5^th and solo 8^th, respectively. Jia Kataria finished her first SSAC Championship round as the 5^th player in the lineup with an 8-over 80 and is alone in 21^st. Ella Cress recorded a 6-over 78 and is tied for 15^th as the individual.
