Ticket Punched! #1 Roadrunners Headed Back To Wichita


DALTON, Ga. – The Roadrunners are headed back to Wichita! #1-ranked Dalton State scored late in the first half and added two more in the second to defeat Eastern Oregon 3-0 in the 2nd round of the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship presented by Select Sport at Dalton Stadium in Dalton on Saturday evening.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: An own goal from Mobile off a Roadrunner corner proved the difference in the match.
SECOND HALF
  • (2-0 DS) DS: An own goal from Mobile off a Roadrunner corner proved the difference in the match.
  • (3-0 DS) DS: An own goal from Mobile off a Roadrunner corner proved the difference in the match.
THE REST OF THE STORY
#1 Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (18-0-2 overall) on the season with the win and advances to the Round of 16 in Wichita, Kan., while Eastern Oregon ends the season at (11-4-5 overall) with the loss. Jack Stainrod collected two goals on the day with Giovanni Poliero netting one on a set piece.
 
Great ball movement from the Birds led to a plethora of assists in the contest. Kazuma Ishizuka and Jip van den Essen helped on Stainrod's first goals, while Poliero and Juan Demechelis connected from the backline on Stainrod's second goal. Mendiola got an assist on Poliero's goal
 
UP NEXT
#1 Dalton State will take on Spring Arbor (Mich.) in the Round of 16 at Stryker Sports Complex in Wichita, Kan. that begins on December 2. Game time is TBD.
