Lady Birds End Regular Season With Win Over Brewton-Parker (Ga.)


MOUNT VERNON, Ga. – Dalton State ended the regular season in winning fashion getting a 3-0 shutout victory over Brewton-Parker (Ga.) in SSAC action in Mount Vernon on Saturday afternoon.
 
 HOW IT HAPPENED
 FIRST HALF 
  • (1-0 DS) DS: Ana Silva got the Lady Roadrunners on the board first in the 23' when she scored with an assist from Emma Chason.
SECOND HALF 
  • (2-0 DS) DS: Ria Cox padded the lead in the 55' with a hand from Ava Vandoren on the scoring play.
  • (3-0 DS) DS: Molly Duncan put it away in the 78' with an unassisted goal.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (7-4-3 overall, 5-4-2 SSAC) with the loss, while Brewton-Parker (Ga.) falls to (2-12-0 overall, 2-8-0 SSAC) with the win. Ria Cox gets her 5th goal of the season and leads the team with 15 total points. Ana Silva gets her 3rd goal, while Molly Duncan nets her 2nd.
 
Ava Vandoren gets her 5th assist of the year with Emma Chason getting her first collegiate assist. DS outshot BP 21-1 overall and 11-1 on goal. Brooke Alvarez collected a save on the only shot she faced.
 
UP NEXT
Dalton State will wait on the finalization of seeding for the SSAC Women's Soccer Championship. As of today, the Lady Roadrunners will be the 7th-seed and travel to #5 UT Southern (Tenn.) for the quarterfinal round.
