#1 Birds Finish Home Slate With Win Over Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.)


DALTON, Ga. – #1 Dalton State finished out the home portion of the regular season with a Senior Night victory coming away with a 2-0 win over Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) at Dalton Stadium on Wednesday night
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: Jip van den Essen got the Roadrunners on the board in the 39' when he stepped up for a PK and converted the opportunity in the right lower 90.
SECOND HALF
  • (2-0 DS) DS: A free kick was beautifully executed in the 65' when Pedro Nunes sent a ball into the box that Antonio Bittencourt put into the back of the net.
THE REST OF THE STORY
#1 Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (12-0-1 overall, 6-0-1 SSAC) on the season with the win, while Blue Mountain Christian (Miss.) falls to (2-6-4 overall, 2-4-1 SSAC) with the loss. Jip van den Essen and Antonio Bittencourt each scored with Pedro Nunes picking up an assist on Bittencourt's goal.
 
BMCC sat back most of the night to neutralize the DS attack and got just one shot off the entire evening. DS took 19 strikes with 8 coming on frame.
 
UP NEXT
#1-ranked Dalton State will finish out the regular season with three-straight road matches that begins on Saturday, October 19 when they travel to Pulaski, Tenn. to take on (RV) UT Southern (Tenn.). Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. (CT).
