Upset Bid Falls Short For Lady Roadrunners

DALTON, Ga. – A strong defensive showing and great play in goal held the #3 team in the country scoreless for almost 50 minutes of play but found a way to take the lead late and held on for a 3-1 win over Dalton State (Ga.) in SSAC action at Dalton Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

 HOW IT HAPPENED
 FIRST HALF

SECOND HALF

  • (1-1 T) DS: A well-struck corner kick from Ria Cox gave the Lady Birds life as she sent a ball over the Carey defense to a waiting Molly Duncan who knocked it home to tie the match in the 55'.
  • (2-1 WC) WC: With time winding down, Ricio Fernandez broke the 1-1 tie with a rebound goal in the 83' to give William Carey the lead for good.
  • (3-1 WC) WC: Esalenna Galekhutle gave WC insurance in the 89' when she went coast to coast and finished it off with a late score.
