Lady Roadrunners Get Hard Earned Draw Against Sewanee


DALTON, Ga. – Dalton State trailed early but managed to score a tying goal before halftime and shut down the Sewanee attack in the second half to draw a 1-1 tie against the Tigers in the Dalton Classic at Dalton Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 SEW) SEW: Brianna Fee scored the first goal of the match, unassisted in the 24' for a 1-0 Tiger lead.
  • (1-1 T) DS: Lauren Wright hit the equalizer in the 41' when she connected with Briana Hurtado.
SECOND HALF

THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) goes to (0-1-1 overall) with the draw, while Sewanee used this match as an exhibition since they cannot begin their season until September 1 due to NCAA play rules. They will take on NCAA DIII #1 Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Md. on Friday, September 1.
 
The Lady Roadrunners held the Tigers to one shot in each half, with each coming on goal. In contrast, Dalton State got a total of seven shots off with four on frame.

UP NEXT
DS will set its sights on Bryan (Tenn.). The Lady Roadrunners will battle the Lions on Friday, September 1, at Dalton Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
