LSU-Shreveport Upends Dalton State


LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – The Lady Roadrunners played tough holding a 0-0 tie with a talented LSU-Shreveport (La.) team at the half but two late goals from the Pilots was the difference as LSU-Shreveport defeated Dalton State 2-0 Saturday afternoon in the Georgia Gwinnett Classic at Grizzly Soccer Complex in Lawrenceville.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • NO SCORING
SECOND HALF
  • (1-0 LSU-S) LSU-S: Yuvia Vazquez broke a scoreless tie in the 64' with a top box goal on a left cross from Chelsea Brown.
  • (2-0 LSU-S) LSU-S: Alison Clear made the score 2-0 when she received a midfield pass from Mira Erixon and went 1v1 to beat Brooke Alvarez.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) falls to (1-2 overall) with the loss, while LSU-Shreveport (La.) improves to (3-0 overall) with the win. Brooke Alvarez was solid in net saving 5 shots. Emma Johnson and Guadalupe Martinez got shots on frame but couldn't find the net.
 
The Pilots narrowly held the shot advantage at 12-10 but managed to put 8 on frame versus just 3 for the Lady Roadrunners.

UP NEXT
Dalton State have an early Labor Day contest as part of a doubleheader with the men on Monday, September 5 against Williams Baptist (Ark.). Kickoff is scheduled for 10:00 a.m.
