#15 Roadrunners Score Big Road Win At Bryan (Tenn.)


DAYTON, Tenn. –The #15-ranked Roadrunners played spoiler to Bryan (Tenn.) upending the Lions 3-1 in their home opener at BC Soccer Field in Dayton, Tenn. on Wednesday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: Javier Morejon struck 1st for the Birds with a goal in the 16' for the 1-0 lead.
  • (2-0 DS) DS: Less than 15 seconds later Leonardo Seixas and Morejon connected on a goal for a quick 2-0 lead.
  • (3-0 DS) DS: Justin Riescher put a penalty shot in the back of the net in the 32' to put the Roadrunners up by 3 goals.
  • (3-1 DS) BC: Marcelo Martins got a goal back for the Lions with a penalty kick conversion in the 38'.
SECOND HALF

THE REST OF THE STORY
#15 Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (1-0 overall) with the win, while Bryan (Tenn.) falls to (0-1 overall). Justin Riescher scored his 3rd goal of the season, while Javier Morejon picked up his 1st goals of the season and assisted on another by Leonardo Seixas.
 
The DS defense was once again stout only allowing 2 shots all night with just 1 coming on goal on Martins' penalty kick. The Lions never took a shot in the second half.
 
In contrast, the Roadrunners took 10 shots with 5 coming on goal. Three of the 5 shots on goal tallied points in the Birds favor.

#15 Dalton State will face another tough Appalachian Athletic Conference squad when they travel to Athens, Tenn. on Tuesday, August 30 to take on (RV) Tennessee Wesleyan in a rematch of their 2021 NAIA Opening Round tussle that saw the Roadrunners come out on top. Kickoff from TWU Athletic Complex is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
