Roadrunners Advance To Final Site Of NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship


DALTON, Ga. – Dalton State will continue their quest for the soccer programs first national championship as they defeated Indiana Tech 2-0 in the 2nd round of the 64th NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship at Dalton Stadium in Dalton on Saturday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: Justin Riescher got the Birds on the board early in the 5' when Leonardo Seixas sent a beautiful pass to Riescher who side stepped a defender and the goalkeeper for the goal.
SECOND HALF
  • (2-0 DS) DS: Dalton State padded the lead in the lead just 30 seconds into the 2nd half when Seixas sent a cross into the box that found Josh Ramos who did the rest for a two-goal lead.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (16-1-3 overall) with the win, while Indiana Tech ends the season at (12-3-7 overall) with the loss. Justin Riescher and Josh Ramos each scored goals for the Roadrunners, their 13th and 8th respectively of the season. Leonardo Seixas assisted on both goals raising his tally to 6 on the year.
 
The DS defense stepped up big again only allowing two total shots with just one coming on goal that Michael Barrueta stopped cold. Dalton State took 12 shots overall with 6 coming on frame.

UP NEXT
Dalton State will set their sights to Deatur, Ala. and the NAIA Men's Soccer National Championship Final Site that begins on Tuesday, November 29. The Birds will play on day two of action on December 2nd.
