Lady Roadrunners Break Winless Streak With Win Over Blue Mountain


DALTON, Ga. – The Lady Roadrunners ended the home portion of the regular season with a win on Wednesday evening defeating Blue Mountain (Miss.) 2-0 in SSAC women's soccer action at Dalton Stadium.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: After over 40 minutes of scoreless action Ava Vandoren ripped a shot off the left boot from 20 yards out that found the top 90 and a 1-0 DS lead in the 41'.
  • (2-0 DS) DS: A little over 3 minutes later Kylie Pritchett found Emma Johnson who cut through 3 defenders and knocked it into the back of the net in the 44'.
SECOND HALF

THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (3-5-4 overall, 1-3-2 SSAC) on the season with the win, while Blue Mountain (Miss.) falls to (6-7-1 overall, 2-4-0 SSAC) with the loss. Ava Vandoren scores her 4th goal of the season with Emma Johnson picking up her 1st. Brooke Alvarez stopped 4 saves in net and collected a clean sheet in the process.
 
DS held the shot advantage at 11-5 overall and on frame 5-4. Blue Mountain was efficient in the shots they took as 4 of the 5 were on goal.

UP NEXT
A match with Talladega (Ala.) is next on the radar for the Lady Roadrunners. They will meet the Tornadoes on Saturday, October 22 in Talladega with a 2:00 p.m. (CT) kick scheduled.
