Lady Roadrunner Fall On The Road To Life


MARIETTA, Ga. – Dalton State got on the board first but three-straight goals from the Running Eagles proved to be the difference in a 3-2 defeat for the Lady Roadrunners at Lupo Family Field in Marietta on Saturday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: Guadalupe Martinez got the scoring started in the 2' when Nicole Perez found her for a 1-0 DS lead.
  • (1-1 T) LU: Anakah Madril tied the match at 1 all in the 29' going in unassisted.
  • (2-1 LU) LU: The Running Eagles took the lead just under two minutes later on a Jeanne Brigand goal in the 31'.
SECOND HALF
  • (2-1 LU) LU: Life extended the lead in the 60' as Thora Hreggvidsdottir scored with an assist from Nellie Pedersen.
  • (3-2 LU) DS: Brianna Hurtado cut the deficit to one in the 70' minute on an unassisted goal.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) goes to (2-5-4 overall, 0-3-2 SSAC) on the season with the loss, while Life (Ga.) sits at (4-5-2 overall, 2-2-1 SSAC) with the draw. Brianna Hurtado scores her team leading 5th goal of the season with Guadalupe Martinez netting her 3rd of the year. Brooke Alvarez stopped 8 of the 11 shots she faced on the day.
 
Life outshot Dalton State 18-10 overall and 11-6 on frame. Corner kicks also favored the Running Eagles 2-1. Fouls were almost even with DS committing 10 and LU called on 11.

UP NEXT
On the horizon is a mid-week conference home matchup with Blue Mountain (Miss.) on Wednesday, October 19. Kickoff at Dalton Stadium is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
