#15 Roadrunners Tie With #12 Cumberlands (Ky.)


WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – #15 Dalton State held a two-goal lead in the second half, but #12 Cumberlands (Ky.) battled back as the Roadrunners and Patriots tied 3-3 in their non-conference match at UC Soccer Complex in Williamsburg, Ky. on Saturday.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: Alejandro Duero got his first goal of the year and of the match when he and Jurgen Ramirez hooked up for a 1-0 Roadrunner lead in the 31'.
SECOND HALF
  • (2-0 DS) DS: Ramirez snagged his own goal in the 61' with an assist from Balmore Cruz to put the Birds up by two goals.
  • (2-1 DS) UC: The two-goal lead was short lived as Rodrigo Riveros connected with Gabriel Figurski Vie and Joel Drewery less than a minute after the kickoff to cut the lead to one-goal in the 62'.
  • (2-2 T) UC: Less than three minutes later in the 64' Riveros went solo and quickly tied the match at 2-2.
  • (3-2 DS) DS: Just over two minutes later in the 66' Cruz hit a corner kick that would eventually turn into a goal by Fredrick Ackander to put the Roadrunners up 3-2.
  • (3-3 T) UC: The final goal of the evening came from Figurski Vie as he and Liam Healey combined for the equalizer in the 72'.
THE REST OF THE STORY
#15 Dalton State (Ga.) goes to 3-2-1 overall with the tie, while #12 Cumberlands (Ky.) goes to 1-2-2 overall with the tie. Alejandro Duero, Jurgen Ramirez, and Fredrick Ackander all scored for the Roadrunners with Ramirez and Balmore Cruz picking up assists.
 
Michael Barrueta has a solid 110 minutes in net stopping 7 shots. DS held the shot advantage at 15-14 but UC held true in shots on goal at 10-6.
 
UP NEXT
The #15-ranked Birds have another tough non-conference opponent on tap as they will return home to face #16 Georgia Gwinnett on Saturday, September 25. Kickoff at Lakeshore Park is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
