Lady Roadrunners Fall On The Road To Tennessee Wesleyan


ATHENS, Tenn. – The Lady Roadrunners got the lead early in the second half, but Tennessee Wesleyan came roaring from behind to get the 4-2 victory over Dalton State at TWU Athletics Complex in Athens, Tenn. on Tuesday afternoon.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 TW) TW: Jamie York and Marte Stokseth hooked up for the first goal of the day in the 20' with York getting the goal and Stokseth the assist.
  • (1-1 T) DS: Ava Van Doren hit the equalizer for DS in the 30'.
SECOND HALF
  • (2-1 DS) DS: Van Doren found freshman Kylie Pritchett in the 47' for the lead.
  • (2-2 T) TW: The Lady Bulldogs tied it up in the 60' when Natalie Feaster found the back of the net with an assist from York.
  • (3-2 TW) TW: TWU took the lead for good in the 66' when Stokseth added to her point total with a goal.
  • (4-2 TW) TW: York tallied another assist in the 74' when she found Jill De Waal for the 4th Lady Bulldog goal.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) falls to 1-2 overall with the loss, while Tennessee Wesleyan improves to 2-1 overall with the win. Ava Van Doren got her first goal of the season while Kylie Pritchett scored for the first time in her collegiate career.
 
Tennessee Wesleyan held the shot advantage at 13-8 overall and 8-4 on frame. The Lady Roadrunners were more aggressive physically racking up 13 fouls to just 4 for TWU.

UP NEXT
The Lady Roadrunners will have a stiff test up next when they travel to Pulaski, Tenn. to take on #5 UT Southern, formally Martin Methodist (Tenn.), on August 28. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. (CT). They will be back at Lakeshore Park on September 1 to take on Wesleyan (Ga.).
