Women's Soccer Falls At Home To Faulkner


DALTON, Ga. – Dalton State held tough but had to play a majority of the second half with 10 players and wore down late in a 1-0 overtime loss to Faulkner (Ala.) in SSAC soccer action at Lakeshore Soccer Complex in Dalton on Saturday.

  • (1-0 FU) FU: A well setup play started with a lead pass to Klara Ebert who found a streaking Faith Pelletier-King who hit a sliding shot that went just to the right of Brooke Alvarez for the golden goal.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) falls to 4-5 overall (1-1 SSAC) with the loss, while Faulkner (Ala.) improves to 1-9 overall (1-1 SSAC) with the win.
 
Each squad took one shot in overtime with Faulkner's being the definitive boot. Brooke Alvarez played strong in goal with 9 saves. Ava Van Doren led the Lady Birds with 5 total shots.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
The Lady Roadrunners held the shot advantage in the first half at 5-4, but the Eagles tripled them in the second half 12-4. Nine of the 12 second half blasts came after a red card that forced DS to play with 10 players.

Dalton State will be back on the pitch at Lakeshore Park on Saturday, March 6 when they host Brewton-Parker (Ga.). Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
