Lady Birds Play Shorthanded In Loss To Brewton-Parker


DALTON, Ga. – The Lady Roadrunners gave a huge effort with just 12 players but came up short in a 4-0 decision to Brewton-Parker in SSAC soccer action at Lakeshore Park in Dalton on Saturday

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 BP) BP: Jaryn Paley received an assist from Kadisha Martina for the first goal in the 24'.
  • (2-0 BP) BP: The second goal came in the 35' when Dalton State failed to clear a scoring attempt that bounced the wrong way and into the goal for an own goal.
SECOND HALF
  • (3-0 BP) BP: Kamryn Laster made it 3-0 in the 54' on an assist from Viviana Martinez.
  • (4-0 BP) BP: Martina and Paley hooked up for the final Baron goal of the day with Paley feeding the assist to Martina.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) falls to 4-6 overall (1-2 SSAC) with the loss, while Brewton-Parker (Ga.) improves to 7-4-1 overall (2-1 SSAC) with the win. Emily Darnell led the Lady Birds in shots with 2. Both of her shots were on frame. Brooke Alvarez stopped 8 of 12 attempts she faced.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
The Barons went wild with shots in the first half at a clip of 12-3 compared to the Lady Roadrunners. The Dalton State D stiffened up in the second half and only allowed 5 shots.

Dalton State will stay in state traveling to Macon to take on the Lady Knights of Middle Georgia State on Thursday, March 11. Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
