Lady Birds Kickoff The Spring With a Victory


TEMPLE TERRACE, Fla. – The Lady Roadrunners got the Spring season off to a great start with a 3-1 win over Florida College in SSAC action at Qualls Field in Temple Terrace, Fla. on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
FIRST HALF
  • (1-0 DS) DS: Nicole Perez notched the first goal of the game for the early Lady Roadrunner lead.
  • (1-1 T) FC: Sophia Hall tied the score in the 24' on an assist from Kiara Romero
  • (2-1 DS) DS: Newcomer Megan Wilson gave the Lady Birds back the lead in the 36'.
SECOND HALF
  • (3-1 DS) DS: Wilson put another goal on the board for DS for a two-score lead.
THE REST OF THE STORY
Dalton State (Ga.) improves to 4-3 overall (1-0 SSAC) with the win, while Florida College falls to 1-7 overall (0-1 SSAC) with the loss. Freshman Megan Wilson led the Lady Roadrunners with two goals in her debut. Fellow freshman Nicole Perez added her 2nd goal of the season in the win. Brooke Alvarez was lightly tested stopping one of two shots she faced on goal.
 
Sophia Hall got the only FC goal of the night with Kiara Romero getting the assist. Victoria Fullager had 8 saves, but allowed 3 goals on the evening.
 
BY THE NUMBERS
From a number's perspective, Dalton State dominated. They allowed the one goal but did so on just 3 shots, 2 of which were on goal. In contrast, the Lady Roadrunners got off 17 shots with 11 of those coming on goal.

UP NEXT
Dalton State will head back into the state of Georgia to take on Thomas (Ga.) on Saturday, February 20. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at TU Soccer Complex in Thomasville.
